Purple Remnants
Fawkes & Forté went to see the Purple remnants at the Roundhouse.
Not disappointed as they served up some timeless classics Space Truckin, Lazy & Smoke on the Water. But, what I had really wanted to hear was Child in Time, sadly Ian Gillian was unable to oblige, no doubt the high notes would have been too much. However, he led the band admirably from the front and some of the new numbers including Vincent Price had the feeling of always being part of the repertoire.
The Mule, a drum solo piece by Ian Paice was a show stopper with his hallowenseque LED sticks blazing away in the gloom. They finished with a mighty encore a cover of Booker T & The MG’s Green Onions led by a head hankerchiefed Roger Glover on bass that metamorphosed into Black Night and Hush serving up a force ten finish with the audience wanting more and humming the rift as they exited the auditorium…
