Ellie ….. ‘Bovver Boots’ Goulding
Ellie G performed to a sell out audience on a wet Monday night at London’s Albert Hall a performance to benefit the capitals’ homeless
We took J – a surprise – and lucky enough to have close to ringside seats.
The evening was a slow burn – late start – 7 tracks from her friends before she moved into pole position poised with mic in a modern style femme fatale, red dress short ankle length high heel boots with her – “romantic set” ! – starting with Army a clever valediction to her friend Hannah, How Long Will I love You and Your Song guided by her resident pianist and a octet of female violins.
Second half was a rampant run thru her populist set staring with Aftertaste, Outside (Calvin Harris) cover Burn & rounding off with Love Me Like You Do. She bounded about the stage like a young deer with verve, charm, bundles of long hair and polished bovver boots – an outdoor girl in charge of life.
Great fun and to top it all a soprano voice to die for – no flaws and with a huskiness to add intonation and feeling. Never mind what J thought (she loved it – upset we had to leave just before the end), I echoed her feelings……….
