Shivvy Jervis a radical futurist thinker, struck a chord as she outlined that we already have a super computer our brain which runs at 268 miles an hour processing information so Ai should be embraced, not feared and can benefit society.

Matt Frei followed he has 4 children and had just had a knee operation. He spoke with powerful eloquence about all sorts of topics the USA election – a showroom for democracy – the disaster of the D-Day celebrations ( Rishi left early). He spoke on the effects of pernicious inflation, Liz Truss and about meeting Theresa May at the Hay Festival when she was 20 points ahead in the polls but ended up with a hung parliament! Trump is the cult of personality -added some tinsel- he has fine candy hair like a rare orchid, but his talk of making America isolationist is of great concern and it would also mean for Ukraine, Putin wins if money is stopped. He likes Zelensky, commented he was a powerful figure.

Finally,Paul Niven head of investments at F&C talked about how appetites and trends change quickly Peloton has now dropped 90% from covid boom. We are all living longer and AI is a disruptor and an important part of the portfolio.

Q&A was interesting. I sent a question from my phone to panel about Nigel Farage – Frei commented he is “an extraordinary man could be ejected (from his own party) and then join the Tories.
