A Dark Mild December
As the last log took to the grate on Boxing Day, I fumbled in the sideboard for something to warm the soul.
Goodbye Gangster Granny, hello Elgoods Cherry Stout.
This strong little Dark Mild is like bottled Christmas, doubled up from its baby brother Black Dog, it really packs a ballsy dark chocolate driven Cherry punch. I bought 2 bottles of this little beauty on Christmas Eve and I’m ever so slightly regretting donating the other, although I suspect it is being similarly appreciated as we speak.
Wisbech based Elgoods usually delivers a fine brew, but this is a new one on me, a sweet end to a restful day.
It’s not a volume tipple, think 2 squares of 80% cocoa rather than a whole bar of Dairy Milk, but that is of little concern right now. It’s so fruity that I drank it from a wine glass and I now feel like following it with a glass of Red, which I may just do…
Bottoms up, happy Boxing Day.
