Certainly not a Joker
Back today to follow up on the Christmas debacle.
This time root canal work on a recalcitrant molar made much worse because I had already had this tooth worked on last year within the NHS. Sadly for me their skill set was well below par and although now in the hands of a Ferrari team, I felt genuine trepidation, especially as I had far more understanding now of the implications of the procedure required and the possible, not to be thought about outcomes.
For me, lying flat on my back with a hygienic plastic cover in my mouth pulled tight, I was trussed up facially like a theatrical Joker from Batman, but unlike him lacked any sense of humour. For the Specialist in Endodontics – his task was to remove and clean 4 winding nerves descending deep into my gums. For my wife an opportunity to enjoy a brew, a pot of tea beautifully served – while at the same time able to view the full gamut of activity – as she said afterwards with a steady certainty all carried out “with a minimal of fuss”
An hour and a half later I emerged with stage 1 complete and a comment lodged in my brain from Dr Strangelove “that went very well”
Real life…………..is sometimes more like fiction.
