Wolf Alice – Definitely Made it OK

Fanfare / Front Row / 3rd December, 2025

Ellie the face of Wolf Alice strutted onto the stage at precisely 9.10 pm and delivered on cue a perfect pitch as she smacked hard and fast into Thorns from the latest album The Clearing. Willowy and attired in nothing more than a daring white polka dot beige leotard, black tights with calf high black boots- she held the mic in a vice like grip on a centre stage dais with a Hollywood stage backdrop of silver tinsel – the audience was in entranced.

Her only concession to her sombre colours were her glittering vivid azure 3D blue eyebrows. She was absolutely mesmeric, a leopard waiting to be unleashed and just to make sure we knew her virtuosity, Elle followed with a masterful performance of Bloom Baby Bloom. Her power and strength to hold the word or phrase and vocal range combined with a stage presence which included contortious moves (as the mood deserved) felt reminiscent of Kate Bush.

Yet if Alice is the lead singer she also needs a Wolf to back her up and the rest of the team,  Joff, Joel, Theo and Ryan supply a wonderful sublime lava of thunderous bass, laced with guitars, piano and supporting harmonies to created a textured layered embrace that just swallows you whole. Wow

So we enjoyed a electric mix of tracks from past and present with the Greatest Hits, Giant Peach and Smile with the bass heavily reverberating around the auditorium cut through with more equal weighted tracks like Wild Horses with its driving beat and duet and then onto more delicate deliveries like How Can I Make it OK and The Sofa providing a polished warm glow of comfort – for me like soft sand under your feet with Miami beat happiness on Ocean Drive.

One to savour.
